Debris Free Oceans, a Miami-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to inspiring local communities to responsibly manage waste and eradicate marine debris. Since our inception in 2015, Debris Free Oceans has removed over 40,000 lbs of marine debris with over 5,600 volunteers, and has also educated over 8,500 students about the sources, impacts, and solutions to plastic pollution. We have hosted more than 200 zero-waste events designed to promote positive behavior change engaging more than 10,800 people. We also provide comprehensive sustainability consulting services to local businesses, and the group has eliminated millions of single-use plastics from the waste stream by working with leading establishments and local governments, including the City of Miami Beach, The Rusty Pelican, The Wynwood Yard, Whiskey Joes, Under the Mango Tree, and Treehouse Miami.
Philanthropy is so integral to Miami Cancer Institute,, it’s included among our “10 Pillars of Care.” At the Institute, donors support groundbreaking research to give cancer patients a lifesaving edge. Donors also help fund therapeutic programs and services that alleviate the burden cancer places on patients and families. Innovative research trials and beneficial support programs are often not funded by government or reimbursed by insurance. This is why generous donors play a major role in improving the lives of cancer patients and their families.
